　　Directions:

　　The Student’s Union of your department is planning a Chinese Speaking Contest. Write an announcement which covers the following information:

　　1) the purpose of the contest,

　　2) time and place of the contest,

　　3) what is required of the candidates,

　　4) details of the judges and awards.

　　Chinese-Speaking Contest

　　To improve students’ ability to speak Chinese and enrich after-class activities, the Students’ Union of Chinese Language and Literature is organizing a school-wide Chinese-speaking contest to be held on Saturday next week (17june) at the Students’ Recreational Center. Those who are interested in talking part in it may sign up with the monitors of their classes before Tuesday next week. Five professors will be invited to be judges. The first six winners will be given awards. Everybody is welcome to be present at the contest.

　　Owing to the speedy economic development, the number of the people who use Internet has considerably increased. It is universally acknowledged that Internet playa a crucial role in modern society.

　　Due attention has to be paid to the issue of Internet. With the reform and opening-up in recent decades, people in mounting numbers have come to realize the significance of Internet. Unfortunately, if we let this situation continue as it is, we do not know where humans will be in the forthcoming future.

　　Accordingly, it is imperative for us to take drastic measures. To begin with, we should cultivate the authorities to make strict laws to control Internet. In addition, we should cultivate the awareness of people that Internet. In addition, we should cultivate the awareness of people that Internet is essential to us. Only in this way can we solve the problem.

　　10)Jobs for Graduates (1)

　　Job hunting has always been a headache for college graduates. Though many graduates are employed right after graduation, some are not. Most serious of all, some still have no idea where to go working even a long time after graduation.

　　The reasons for this phenomenon are various. On the one hand, a few years ago colleges and universities enrolled so many students in popular majors, such as economy, finance and so on that the number of graduates was greater than the need in the market. On the other hand, most graduates would rather stay in large cities without suitable job to do than go to the country.

　　I think the problem can be solved if both colleges and students take measures. First, they should research the market and develop special skills to suit its need. Second, students' attitude towards employment should be changed. They should go to some small cities and country. There they can also give full play to their professional knowledge. In a word, if we pay much attention, the problem can be solved.

　　1)在絕大多數(shù)大學(xué)里，考試都是作為衡量學(xué)生是否掌握某一課程的主要手段。雖然考試這一工作做的比較有效，但其副作用也相當(dāng)大。

　　首先，考試造成教學(xué)水平下降。由于教師的好壞往往根據(jù)學(xué)生考試的結(jié)果來判斷，所以教師被迫訓(xùn)練學(xué)生的應(yīng)試技巧。而幾乎沒有什么課程是僅僅通過教授應(yīng)試技巧可以教好的。其次，考試最壞的副作用是使學(xué)生養(yǎng)成不良的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣。由于考試分?jǐn)?shù)是衡量學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)好壞的唯一標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，學(xué)生只能被迫機(jī)械的死記硬背，而不是創(chuàng)造性的去思考。

　　實(shí)際上，很少有人承認(rèn)考試對學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)會(huì)有重要作用。如果確實(shí)如此，我們?yōu)槭裁床蛔鲆恍└母�，設(shè)計(jì)出比考試更有效、更可靠的評估方法來呢?

　　2)我最喜愛的小說是儒勒•凡爾納寫的《八十天環(huán)游地球》。該作者出生于法國，并且致力于文學(xué)事業(yè)，并寫了很多科幻小說，使他贏得“現(xiàn)代科幻小說之父”的美名。

　　這是一本科幻小說，講述了一位英國紳士的一個(gè)激動(dòng)人心的故事。菲利•弗格先生跟他的俱樂部伙伴打了個(gè)賭，并設(shè)法在八十天之內(nèi)環(huán)游了地球。書中生動(dòng)描述了他的旅途中發(fā)生的許多困難和故事。

　　從這本書中，我們可以看出作者對于海洋、旅行和冒險(xiǎn)的熱愛。這些在作者一生中影響深遠(yuǎn)。作者豐富的想象力和科學(xué)地理知識(shí)也使我們驚訝并折服。

　　3)在我生活中我遇到過很多值得回憶的人，但在我認(rèn)識(shí)的人中讓我最難忘的人可能要算我的英語老師了。

　　讓我常�；叵肫鹚�的是他那些特殊的品質(zhì)。首先，他教給我們學(xué)生一位老師所能給予的最珍貴的東西，即喚起我們學(xué)習(xí)的激情。他不僅培養(yǎng)我們欣賞英語語言文學(xué)的美麗與完美，而且激起我們在這方面深入研究的興趣。其次，他的才智深深吸引了我。我現(xiàn)在還記得我們學(xué)生總渴望上他的課，因?yàn)樗�講課生動(dòng)幽默，總能引起我們微笑或哄堂大笑。

　　雖然我們沒聽他的課已近兩年了，但我們聚在一起時(shí)總要談起他。我知道他的形象已深深留在我心中了。
