　　考研英語中，很多同學對于as 出現(xiàn)總是避諱不及，這就需要對as的各個方面來個X透視，在此從詞性的角度，來對它做個深入分析。

　　一、as用做介詞，與一些動詞搭配

　　As常用再一些固定搭配中，比如define…as…，view…as…, see…as…, use…as…, regard…as…, envision…as.., think of…as…, refer to…as…, classify…as…

　　例如06年翻譯中討論的一句話：

　　I shall define him as an individual who has elected as his primary duty and pleasure in life the activity of thinking in Socratic way about moral problems.

　　在這里存在了兩個as，也同時也存在兩種結(jié)構(gòu)define…as…和elected as. 第一個很好判斷，是典型的as作為介詞，翻譯成“作為”，而后者乍看上去并不太好理解，因為結(jié)構(gòu)發(fā)生了一定調(diào)整，elect該詞后真正的賓語是the activity of thinking in Socratic way about moral problems,因頭重腳輕，發(fā)生了位置的移動。

　　第二，as有時單獨作用，譯為“作為”，例如常用的as a student，as a leader of the department等。

　　二、As用作副詞

　　在as…as結(jié)構(gòu)中，第一個as是副詞，其后常接形容詞或另外的副詞，第二個as則是連詞。

　　99翻譯中一句經(jīng)典的話：While there are almost as many definitions of history as there are historians, modern practice most closely conforms to one that sees history as the attempt to recreate and explain the significant events of the past.

　　在這里中就包含一個as…as結(jié)構(gòu)，第一個as即為副詞，修飾形容詞many,而第二個句中是就是比較狀語從句的連詞。

　　三、As用作連詞

　　As用作連詞，絕大多數(shù)情況是引導一系列的狀語從句。

　　1、引導時間狀語從句

　　As the sun rises from the foothill of Mountain Song, thousands of marital artists are kicking, punching and spinning their swords and spears in union at the open parade ground.

　　當太陽從嵩山腳下升起的時候，成千上萬的武術家在開放的練兵場中拳打腳踢，整齊劃一地揮舞著矛與劍。

　　2、引導原因狀語從句

　　04年翻譯We are obliged to them because some of these languages have since vanished, as the peoples who spoke them died out or became assimilated and lost their native language.

　　在該句中存在兩個原因狀語從句，一個是由because引導，另一個則是as引導，解釋some of these languages have since vanished的原因。

　　3、引導方式狀語從句

　　I hope all the precautions against air pollution, as suggested by the local government, will be seriously considered there.

　　方式狀語從句中，as 后省略了主謂結(jié)構(gòu)it is, as 的含義則為“正如，正像”。

　　4、引導讓步狀語從句

　　作文模板中的經(jīng)典模板句Simple as it is, what the picture conveys to us is thought-provoking. 謹記as只有在引導狀語從句中要倒裝，意義和though類似。

　　當然還有在定語從句中也會出現(xiàn)，這里在定語從句的文章中有明確說過，這里就不再詳述了。
