英語四級(jí)閱讀：仇恨是生命健康的頭號(hào)殺手

　　More people have died because of human hatred than from any other human cause, a US professor says。

　　美國一名教授稱人為致病因素中，仇恨是生命的頭號(hào)殺手。

　　"Yet we still do not know enough about how hatred works and how to prevent and combat it," John Shuford, director of the Gonzaga University Institute for Hate Studies, in Spokane, Washington, said in a statement。

　　華盛頓州貢薩加大學(xué)仇恨研究機(jī)構(gòu)主任約翰·舒福德在一份聲明中表示：“然而仇恨如何影響健康，如何防治，我們?nèi)匀灰粺o所知�！�

　　The Gonzaga University Institute for Hate Studies is hosting the Second International Conference on Hate Studies Wednesday through Saturday in Spokane。

　　貢薩加大學(xué)仇恨研究機(jī)構(gòu)在斯波坎舉辦了第二屆國際仇恨研究會(huì)議，會(huì)議將從周三延續(xù)到周六。

　　The conference purpose is to foster better understanding of the nature of hatred, develop more effective models and approaches for combating it and consider the implications for practice across many fields, Shuford said。

　　舒福德稱，會(huì)議宗旨是促進(jìn)了解仇恨的本質(zhì)，制定出更為有效的防治模式和方法，并討論跨學(xué)科實(shí)踐的影響。

　　The conference features academics, a representative of the US State Department, international experts on hate crimes, journalists, law enforcement personnel, educators, human rights experts, representatives of non-governmental organizations, community leaders and clergy。

　　參與會(huì)議的有科研人員，美國國防部代表，國際仇恨犯罪專家，記者，執(zhí)法人員，教育從業(yè)人員，人權(quán)專家，非政府組織的代表，社區(qū)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人和神職人員。

　　The keynote speaker is Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, the Nobel Peace Prize-nominated author of "I Shall Not Hate: A Gaza Doctor's Journey on the Road to Peace and Human Dignity."The Palestinian physician lost three daughters when Israeli tanks twice shelled his home, but his message of non-violence and hope for peace between Israelis and Palestinians endures。

　　會(huì)議主要發(fā)言人是諾貝爾和平獎(jiǎng)提名義鄒定·阿布萊施醫(yī)生，他著有《拒絕仇恨：一名加沙醫(yī)生的通往和平與人格尊嚴(yán)之路》一書。這位巴勒斯坦醫(yī)生在以色列兩次轟炸中失去了三個(gè)女兒，然而他宣揚(yáng)的巴以非暴力與和平的希望卻會(huì)永久流傳。
