主謂一致

　　1. many a, more than one +單數(shù)名詞，謂語仍然用單數(shù).

　　Many a soldier has sacrificed his life for the revolution.

　　2. either of +復(fù)數(shù)名詞，謂語動詞用單數(shù).

　　Has either of your parents visited you?

　　3. and; both and 連接兩個單數(shù)形式的名詞詞組，謂語動詞用復(fù)數(shù).當(dāng)主語在意義上指同一人，同一物或同一概念時，謂語用單數(shù).

　　A boy and a girl want to go.

　　A cart and horse is what he needs now.

　　在英語中，有不少像a cart and horse這種表示單數(shù)概念的短語，如：

　　a needle and thread a knife and fork

　　a watch and chain　a cup and saucer

　　即使這種表示單數(shù)概念的短語中有復(fù)數(shù)名詞，謂語動詞仍然用單數(shù)形式，如：

　　Danish bacon and eggs makes a good solid English breakfast.

　　More examples: bread and butter, trial and error, law and order, toast and marmalade, fish and chips

　　4. each and each; every and every 等結(jié)構(gòu)后，謂語用單數(shù).

　　Each man and (each) woman is asked to help.

　　5.主語后面有as well as; together with; along with; rather than等詞組，謂語的單復(fù)數(shù)有主語來決定.

　　6. one of+復(fù)數(shù)名詞+關(guān)系分句結(jié)構(gòu)，如先行詞為復(fù)數(shù)名詞，謂語則為復(fù)數(shù).當(dāng)前面有the only/very等限定詞修飾，謂語用單數(shù).

　　Joan is one of those people who go out of their way to be helpful.

　　He is the only one of those boys who is willing to take on another assignment.

　　7.靠近原則：

　　由 not only...but also, either...or, neither...nor 或 or 連接的并列主語，通常根據(jù) 就近一致 原則，謂語動詞的單復(fù)數(shù)形式由最接近它的名詞詞組的單復(fù)數(shù)形式?jīng)Q定。例如：

　　He or you have taken my pen.

　　Neither the students nor the teacher knows anything about it .

　　One or two days are enough to visit the city.

　　8. 由 “a number of, a total of + 復(fù)數(shù)名詞 ” 作主語，謂語動詞用復(fù)數(shù)形式;由 “the number of, the total of+ 復(fù)數(shù)名詞 ” ，謂語動詞用單數(shù)形式。例如：

　　A number of students are waiting for the bus.

　　The number of the students in this university is increasing yearly.
